Our Inaugural Study Trip 2025
The Road to Roots study trip to southern Spain was an impactful educational and spiritual experience for our students. Through immersive site visits, engaging classes, and meaningful interactions with scholars and artisans, participants explored the rich intellectual and civilizational heritage of Southern Spain (al-Andalus). This journey cultivated not only knowledge but also spiritual refinement, social awareness, and a lasting connection to stories of the past.
Over the course of the trip, students engaged in:
Five structured academic classes led by Dr. Firas Alkhateeb on Islamic thought and civilization, including a pre-trip preparation class.
Multiple site visits to historic sites, including Madinat al-Zahra, the Alhambra, Torre de la Calahorra, and more.
A hands-on workshop with master leather artisan Munira Mendoca.
